The Vacancy
At NCHA, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to achieve their goals and build a positive future.
We're looking for caring and motivated Support Workers to join our Branching Out Newark team, supporting young people aged 16-21 living in supported accommodation. You'll help young people build confidence, develop essential life skills and move towards independent living and permanent accommodation.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you'll provide practical and emotional support to help young people achieve their goals and overcome challenges. You'll build positive, professional relationships while empowering young people to make informed choices and develop the skills they need to live independently.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days are the same, but you'll typically:
- Support young people to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
- Create, review and update support plans and risk assessments.
- Help young people access education, employment and training opportunities.
- Support with budgeting, cooking, managing bills and maintaining a home.
- Encourage participation in activities and engagement within the local community.
- Work with partner agencies and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
- Advocate on behalf of young people where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding responsibilities.
- Promote a safe, positive and supportive living environment.

Working Pattern
We have two 37-hour roles available
The service operates 7 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays, so flexibility is essential. Typical shifts are:
7:00am to 2:30pm
2:30pm to 10:00pm
There may also be opportunities to work night shifts, with enhanced rates of pay.
This role is based across our Newark services, including Newark and Ollerton, with travel to cluster properties in Newark, Ollerton and Balderton as required.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable.
About You
We're looking for someone who is positive, resilient and passionate about supporting young people.
You'll have experience working with young people, either through paid employment or volunteering, and an understanding of the challenges they may face. You'll be able to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries and responding calmly to challenging situations.
You'll also have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Good IT skills and accurate record-keeping abilities.
- A calm and professional approach when managing difficult situations.
- A proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.
NCHA will support you to achieve a Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker qualification as part of your employment. You must be willing and able to commit to the learning and training required and have the right to work in the UK for the duration of your employment and qualification.
