The Vacancy
Here at NCHA, we have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive Community Safety team as a Community Safety Assistant.
Our team plays a vital role in helping our customers feel safe in their homes and communities by responding to reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB), investigating incidents, and taking appropriate action where tenancy breaches occur.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will act as a key point of contact, supporting investigations and ensuring reports are assessed, prioritised, and progressed appropriately.
What you’ll be doing
As a Community Safety Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Acting as the first point of contact for all ASB reports via phone, email, web and referrals
Triaging and assessing incoming reports, deciding whether they meet the threshold for ASB case management
Logging and managing cases within the React ASB system in line with policy and procedure
Allocating cases to the most appropriate officer based on workload and case factors
Communicating with customers, managing sensitive conversations, and explaining outcomes where cases do not meet criteria
Carrying out initial risk assessments and identifying harm levels for complainants
Supporting investigations by:
Contacting complainants and providing updates
Arranging appointments
Uploading and managing evidence
Making referrals to partner agencies
Managing low-level ASB cases from start to closure, including applying appropriate actions or sanctions
CCTV and evidence handling
Managing requests for CCTV footage from internal and external stakeholders
Interrogating systems to locate and download footage
Sharing evidence securely with partners (e.g. police)
Preparing witness statements and attending court where required
Working pattern
35 hours per week
Monday to Friday (core daytime hours)
Opportunity for split shifts to support team coverage across the day
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in a customer-facing role, ideally dealing with sensitive or complex situations
Calm, professional, and confident when handling challenging conversations
Able to analyse information, apply policies and make sound decisions
Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
Comfortable working with systems and maintaining accurate records
It would be great if you also have:
Knowledge of anti-social behaviour, tenancy agreements or investigations
Experience working with CCTV systems and evidence handling
Experience working with partner agencies or in a housing, legal or enforcement setting
(Don’t worry if you don’t meet all of these — training can be provided.)
Why join us?
You’ll be part of a team that genuinely makes a difference to people’s lives by helping create safer communities. You’ll also benefit from:
A supportive and collaborative team environment
Opportunities to develop your skills and experience
Flexible working arrangements within the role
