The Service
Ashland Road West is a registered care home located in Sutton-in-Ashfield. We provide person-centred care to ten service users with moderate to profound learning disabilities, physical disabilities, communication needs and complex healthcare related requirements. Every day, we do all we can to help our service users be as independent as possible by working together as a team and having their best interests at the heart of everything we do. The Role
As a Support Worker, your role will involve helping service users to live as independently as possible. The life of a Learning Disability Support Worker includes supporting service users with personal care, day trips out, playing games, sensory experiences and even watching the odd movie!
In addition to this, some of your main duties will include but are not limited to:
Please note that due to the needs of our service users, there are high levels of moving & handling and risk management involved in the role; as such, you will need to be willing and able to undertake these duties.
About you
Our ideal candidate is a team player who is supportive of the needs of others. Service users are at the heart of everything we do, so we would like to hear from you if you are friendly, flexible and willing to provide high standards of personal care and support using a person-centred approach. We are looking for individuals who are approachable, patient and keen to develop. Empathy and compassion whilst being able to demonstrate a robust and safe approach to managing risk positively is key in this role. Although the role can be challenging at times, the training and support we provide will ensure that you are well equipped and confident to hit the ground running.
Experience working with people with learning disabilities is desired but not essential so please don’t let this put you off from applying – we look for personal values that align with NCHA’s CLEAR values!
To be successful in this role you will:
Working Hours and Shift patterns
You will ideally be able to work full time 37 hours per week (but no less than 30 hours per week) working 5 days out of 7 on a rotating shift basis. Our home is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, to meet the needs of our wonderful service users. It is essential that you are able to work various shifts on a rota basis including on bank holidays and weekends;
Travelling to Ashland Road West
Due to its location, local candidates or candidates who can drive are highly desirable, as public transport involves a 10-minute walk to the care home from the nearest bus stop during the early hours of the morning (meaning, it is unreliable to use for morning shifts starting at 7.00). Our home is an 18-minute drive from Mansfield city centre.
