Here at NCHA we have a fantastic opportunity for the right people to join our friendly and supportive Care & Support team as a Mental Health Support Worker based in Nottingham.

 

We provide people with accommodation, and ongoing support, for up to a maximum period of two years. Support is mainly on a one-to-one basis, but does include group work or activities.

You will be equipped with the right values and be given training to make you highly resilient to allow you to demonstrate patience and understanding even in times of crisis. We know it’s a challenging role, but we also know you will be remarkable at it.

 

So what will you be doing?

 

You will provide face to face support to people living with mental illness. You’ll help to develop their daily living skills, emotional stability and increase confidence, whilst maintaining positive working relationships with family, social workers and other professionals. You will encourage positive behaviour, helping to promote meaningful change in people's beliefs and abilities.

 

Numeracy, literacy and IT skills are essential as you will updating support plans and recording notes frequently.

 

Shift Patterns

Support is all year round; so you will need to be available to work a variety of shifts across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. Shift patterns are based around service user needs so our ideal candidate will be flexible. The working pattern is 37 hours worked over a 7 day period. These shifts can vary but generally will be between 8am and 9pm. We are unable to accommodate any part time roles due to our service needs.

 

The ideal candidate is an organised self-starter with computer experience, able to mix face to face practical work with computer based record keeping. They will be open and supportive to the needs of others, displaying our CLEAR values and having an awareness of the needs of vulnerable adults and able to communicate effectively with other professionals and agencies.
