Derbyshire WISH is seeking a compassionate, resilient and motivated Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by supporting women and families affected by domestic abuse across both refuge and outreach services. This role will mainly be based in South Derbyshire. 

 

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will provide emotional and practical, trauma‑informed support to survivors of domestic abuse in refuge and community-based settings. Working with a manageable caseload, you will deliver tailored, strength-based support, empowering individuals to rebuild safety, confidence and independence.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Providing one-to-one emotional and practical support to survivors of domestic abuse
  • Managing a caseload and developing individual support and risk management plans
  • Facilitating group sessions and wellbeing activities
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to advocate for clients and safeguard their wellbeing
  • Maintaining accurate, timely records using case management systems
  • Contributing to a safe, welcoming and healthy environment for all service users

 

Interviews will be held on a rolling basis via Microsoft Teams.

 

About You

We are looking for someone who:

 

  • Has experience supporting vulnerable individuals, ideally within a domestic abuse or similar support setting
  • Communicates with empathy, professionalism and clarity
  • Is confident using basic IT systems and maintaining accurate case records
  • Can work flexibly, including occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle with business insurance
